Besides those traditional word/phrase sets, from now on I’ll be also publishing other types of creative writing prompts for you.
“Mixing quotes” is exactly what the name says: you mix quotes to create a new story or to add a twist to an existing piece. Of course, you don’t necessarily have to include these quotes in your story. In fact, it’ll be much more interesting if you just use them as starting points to develop your ideas.
Here is the first quote set that you can use:
“A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.” (Oscar Wilde)
“Maybe this world is another planet’s Hell.” (Aldous Huxley)
“A man may build himself a throne of bayonets, but he cannot sit on it.” (William Ralph Inge)
I shouldn’t make any comments because I’m not supposed to influence your creative decisions, but … oh, well, I just can’t resist: the second quote could inspire hundreds of different stories; one might develop a whole short story series (or even a novel series) around that concept.
